HubSpot vs Salesforce 2026: The 3-Year Math for Small Teams

Ten reps, three years: HubSpot Professional $33,900, Salesforce Pro Suite $36,000. The license gap is small. The admin, partner and exit costs are not.

The story repeats: a small team picks HubSpot because it is simpler. It grows, someone says Salesforce is the standard, and three years later the company pays for a system one person maintains and nobody else opens.

This comparison runs the numbers for a ten-person sales team at list prices checked on September 29, 2026. Two things changed since most comparisons were written: Salesforce renamed its editions, and HubSpot's cheapest paid price is a promotion.

The core difference

HubSpot is built for teams without a CRM admin: sales, marketing and service in one product that people can learn in a day.

Salesforce is built for companies with an admin, an implementation partner and a roadmap. Almost anything can be built on it, and almost everything has to be.

What each one costs in 2026

LevelHubSpot Sales Hub, per seat per monthSalesforce Sales, per user per month
FreeFree CRM, up to 2 usersFree Suite, $0
Starter$20 list price. New customers get $7 billed yearly or $10 monthly for a limited timeStarter Suite: $25, billed monthly or yearly
Professional$90 billed yearly, $100 monthly on a one-year commitment. Required onboarding: $1,500 one-timePro Suite: $100, billed yearly
Above thatEnterprise: $150, billed yearly. Required onboarding: $3,500Core $195, Advanced $395, Max $550, all billed yearly

Salesforce's pricing page no longer shows the Enterprise and Unlimited editions most comparisons still quote. It now lists Starter, Pro, Core, Advanced and Max. Core adds Premier Success and Slack Business+; Max adds the full Agentforce for Sales package and Slack Enterprise+.

Three years for ten reps

Setup36 months
HubSpot Sales Hub Starter at list price$7,200
Salesforce Starter Suite$9,000
HubSpot Sales Hub Professional, plus onboarding$33,900
Salesforce Pro Suite$36,000
HubSpot Sales Hub Enterprise, plus onboarding$57,500
Salesforce Core$70,200
Salesforce Advanced$142,200
Salesforce Max$198,000

Want marketing automation on top? HubSpot Marketing Hub Professional is $800 a month billed yearly with three seats included, extra seats from $45, plus $3,000 onboarding: $31,800 over three years.

At the Professional level the list prices sit within about 6% of each other. The real gap is everything around the license.

The costs that are not on the price list

  • Implementation. HubSpot's onboarding fee is on the price list. Salesforce projects usually run through an implementation partner, billed separately.
  • An admin. Salesforce rewards a dedicated admin and punishes the lack of one. HubSpot works without one for much longer.
  • Contracts. Salesforce says most of its products use annual contracts. HubSpot's monthly Professional price still comes with a one-year commitment.
  • The next tier. HubSpot's step above Professional is $150 a seat. Salesforce's is $195, and the AI-heavy editions go to $395 and $550.
  • Promotions end. Budget HubSpot Starter at its $20 list price, not the $7 new-customer offer.

Strengths and weaknesses

HubSpot

  • Easy to learn. Reps can work in it on day one.
  • All in one. Email, meetings, forms and marketing live in the same system.
  • Less to build. It works the way most small sales teams already work.
  • Weak spot: deep customization and complex reporting hit walls sooner.
  • Weak spot: seat-based pricing on every hub. Adding marketing or service multiplies the bill; see how HubSpot pricing creeps.

Salesforce

  • Unlimited customization, if you pay someone to do it.
  • Enterprise scale and ecosystem. Industry versions and thousands of add-ons.
  • Weak spot: nothing useful happens without configuration, and configuration is a project.
  • Weak spot: small teams pay for capacity they never touch; see Salesforce for small teams.

When you might need Salesforce

  • You have 50+ reps and need forecasting across territories
  • You are in a regulated industry that needs audit trails and custom approval flows
  • Your partners and systems already run on Salesforce
  • You have, or will hire, a Salesforce admin

If none of those is true, you are paying for the standard, not for what your team does.

The migration problem

After three years in either system you have custom fields nobody remembers, integrations to rebuild and history you are afraid to lose. Salesforce knows it, and so does HubSpot. The deeper you customize, the higher the exit cost.

The recommendation

Under 50 people and choosing between the two: pick HubSpot. Not because the license is much cheaper (it is not, at the Professional level) but because you can run it without an admin and a partner, and you can leave it more easily.

Then ask the question neither vendor wants asked: how many CRM features does your team open? For most small teams it is five or six: contacts, companies, a deal pipeline, tasks, email logging, a report. Owning those costs less than renting them. A CRM built for your team starts at $8,000, once, with the code and the license yours; the HubSpot alternatives guide shows how that works, and pricing has the ranges.

The SaaSKiller Take

For ten reps, HubSpot Professional costs $33,900 over three years and Salesforce Pro Suite $36,000 before the partner invoice. The license gap is small; the gap in admin work, implementation and exit cost is not. Start with HubSpot if you must rent. Better: count the features your team uses, and stop paying rent on the rest.
